SKY-HI x MONEY x RUI x TAIKI x KANON interview summary (ar HOMME vol. 2)
Summary of the interview SKY-HI, MONEY, and RUI, TAIKI, KANON (BMSG Trainees) had in the ar HOMME vol. 2 magazine.
SKY-HI was drawn to RuiTaiNon during their auditions and had a feeling he’d get to do music with them. When Non asked what aspect about them drew them to him, he said he could tell they really liked music.
MONEY says he had a chance to see the boys as a trainer in THE FIRST. He agrees with boss that it was a group of very talented boys. RUI and TAIKI stood out a lot, there was something about them that shone.
RUI asked boss if his impression of RuiTaiNon has changed, boss said rather than change, he feels like they’ve broadened – maybe from interacting and talking with other BMSG artists – he’s shocked by their growth in skills and techniques. It’s like seeing a manga character and going, “You can do that already? How? When?” 😮
MONEY thought KANON’s ability to talk and communicate stood out during MISSIONx2 since he was one of the youngest.
RUI says MONEY and SKY-HI were already very charming people from when he met them, and are like father figures to him. They lead by example and they make RUI want to follow them.
TAIKI says it’s amazing how SKY-HI can handle CEO, producer, and artist roles all at once. Boss is someone close to him that is his ideal and who he wants to become. MONEY is someone that is a very integral part of his life, he thinks his performances wouldn’t have grown if it weren’t for MONEY’s advice and telling him what he doesn’t notice.

KANON: I like SKY-HI’s MC’s after a live. They’re never the same but they’re always words that really hit you. Do you think of them on the spot?
🌞: Pretty much, if I think of anything during the live I’ll talk about them during the MC, yes. But, when you create something it’s important to consider the context. Live performances have a story to them, so whatever I have to say you’ll know about them during rehearsals. I don’t want to answer with, “I just went with my gut” when asked, “Why did you put this song here [in the setlist]?”. If I understand the meaning behind the order of [my setlist], then I naturally come up with things to say. KANON has a pretty good comedic sense, and your mind responds quickly, plus a good stock of vocabulary, I think once you get older you’ll be an interesting MC! Oh, and with more experience of course!
👻: Wah~ 😭 I’ll do my best! 💪
🐼: Can I also ask a question? I think SKY-HI’s very busy but I never see you feeling down. If I come across something I don’t like while at work I tend to ponder over it a lot. I want to know how to keep my emotions under control.
🌞: I’m actually a little down today, lol. Of course, there’s parts of a job that I don’t like or find depressing, but once I think of it as something that’s necessary to do what I want to do, I think of it as a responsibility I must shoulder for people to pursue what they want. By balancing freedom and responsibility, if I am doing work that is depressing that also means I’m doing work that will lead to freedom. Put it in our terms, if the feeling of “making something good” will make us do it, then we might happily feel depressed / sad. If you overcome it that way, you will naturally surround yourself with people you love, and you’ll be much happier.

⚡: I will proclaim right now! I want to become SuperMan, just like SKY-HI and MONEY. I don’t have all the experience yet, but my feelings are sincere. I want to become my own kind of SuperMan.

SKY-HI always feels more genki after meeting the Trainees. He thinks it’s maybe because they’re all people who love and are sincere about, music so it strengthens his own love and respect. He thinks it’s wonderful.
MONEY feels the same way. When he watches the Trainees perform, he can feel their hard work, and it’s appealing that they are just themselves, acting their age around each other. As one year goes by, they don’t suddenly act mature and go, “I don’t wanna do that”. Instead, they simply just enjoy the present and what is in front of them. They will also listen attentively [to him] when he thinks they can do better in x or y. He’s happy that the Trainees can be in an environment where they can grow and develop naturally amongst their peers and create something good together. MONEY’s an adult so there are moments he can’t relate to or empathize with so he has to distance himself sometimes, he appreciates their purity and genuinity when they don’t understand something and will ask him about it. He thinks it’s from their childhood and working their hardest on different things from different angles and it's now emerging in various ways at their age.
SKY-HI can feel RuiTaiNon’s greediness in various things and is happy to see it. It isn’t just working hard on what they’ve told them, but what they should spend time mastering so they look cool, be better, how to better themselves, etc. he finds all of this very BMSG of them. He thinks it’s good that they’re in a cycle of constantly bettering themselves instead of simply seeking to become better at singing and dancing. He thinks RuiTaiNon will develop now in a different sense. There are obviously matters related to age they have to tackle too, but he trusts MONEY and staff to support him in that.
MONEY and the staffs in charge of the Trainees training program have noticed changes in RuiTaiNon as well. MONEY thinks the 1-on-1 chat with the Trainees has a lot to do with that:
- The Trainees have a 1-on-1 chat with MONEY / BMSG staff every 1-2 months, where they focus on the Trainee’s mental health and care
- While MONEY thinks monitoring the Trainee’s physical condition is important, he also thinks caring for the Trainee’s mental health is an important part of the program. They’ll continue to refine it and do their best to pick up on, and care for, Trainee’s mental condition through these monthly / bi-monthly chats.

Although training for the Trainees is important, he was also concerned whether it is right for these Trainees to sacrifice their daily life and their youth, whom he is leading / in charge of. It’s a big premise of the system and schedule put in place for the trainee program and something MONEY hopes the Trainees can prioritize. It’s why he thinks training is one part of what makes it fun. His goal with the trainee program is to birth BMSG artists whom the Trainees can see are having a lot fun and are happy.

That kind of FES. Which artist of BMSG will be where? Maybe there’s a surprise right before the premiere?
