RYOKI (BE:FIRST), BAILA interview summary (02.06.2025)
BAILA released their two-part interview with Ryoki on his role in his recent movie, "Dare Yori Mo Tsuyoku Dakishimete", what he gained from his NHK asa drama role, "Tora ni Tsubasa", and how he perceives his identity as an actor and artist in the entertainment industry.

Part 2
ryoki met the producer for Dare Yori mo while shooting for a show in KR (i think i remember that one). It so happened a producer he knew was also in KR at the time and told Ryoki there's someone he wants Ryoki to meet, so they met over ramen and beer.
He was in his sakuragi hanamichi era and talking about random stuff that he was surprised to be offered a role like Yoshiki who is the complete opposite of him. He found it fascinating but also rewarding and fun as an actor, and grateful for the opportunity
He admits Yoshiki makes very different choices from him but he can sympathsize with him and says he may have aspects of Yoshiki when he's at home 👀 or that at home he's pretty much Yoshiki 😏 😂
Although he is explosive on stage, he believes that Yoshiki and his 🌋 self are two sides of the same coin. If you aren't sensitive to discomfort, you won't be able to become someone with a strong core; if you have never been negative, you won't know how to change to be a positive person. He has a lot of negative aspects himself. He's struggled, suffered, hit wall(s), wore himself out but he never gave up and lived on determinedly, leading to his positive self today. So he thinks Yoshiki embodies parts of him and he incorporates his own experiences while being Yoshiki.
what ryoki's schedule looked like: shooting dare yori mo during beef arena tour - after dare yori mo wrapped up - photoshoot in France for GAZE photobook. He was also thinking about a lot of things at the time and with the tight schedule he found it tough because he felt like he didn't have time to really pause and gather his thoughts.
he did his own research on OCD and spoke with the director for the role. He felt like he spent more time as Yoshiki than as himself so he felt like he couldn't tell the difference when he was himself and when he's Yoshiki at times
when he was acting the gangster in High x Low, he found himself irritated a lot or he'd feel the same way as his characters for whatever he plays. Once the shooting is over though, he lets it go
- Because of this, he feels like Naoaki from ToraTsuba is the most similar to him. He felt like he didn't need to "work" (quote / unquote) much on the character. Since it was a role for a drama that went on for quite some time, he thinks it's better if he plays someone that's close to himself.
He feels truly blessed to have gotten a role in ToraTsuba and playing the same character for a very long time. He was happy to be involved in it, whether in terms of what ToraTsuba touches on, the script, the other casts, the staff. It will be a piece he treasures in his life.
- He mentions again that Naoaki is a character that is closest to him in terms of how honest and straightforward they are. Though he can't be sure if he's as good of a boyo as Naoaki 🤣 😏 He is grateful and treasures the role
ryoki was talking with boss about how it'll be great if (beef) could do the theme song for this movie, and the topic came up again when shooting for it ended. He's thankful for an opportunity like this so he told boss, "If we could get it then I want to write the lyrics for the (theme) song"
Boss co-wrote the lyrics with him, but Ryoki sprinkled scenery and words from Yoshiki's perspective into the lyrics for "Dare Yori Mo". He knows it's not an experience many have, singing the theme song for a movie you act in, so he's grateful to have had the opportunity to be involved in a piece of work he does in a different way.
Miyachi "DAIS" Daisuke, who provided the music for the song is also the producer for the movie. He introduced Ryoki to the director of the movie, Uchida-san. Ryoki says Miyachi Daisuke wrote the lyrics and composed EXILE's "Toki no Kakera," and he thinks it was a really good connection.
Ryoki approaches the two differently. To him, both means the same, "a form of expression", he's the one doing both of these things, so that doesn't really change anything. When he's acting, he finds it interesting because he has to use his 🧠 to get into the role and there are moments he can go with his instincts while being calculative.
As an artist, while he may be expressing his true self, there are parts where it may be exaggerated. There are times when RYOKI, the artist, appears as if he is playing a role, and it is fun to put as much of the emotion of the moment into the performance as possible.
Ryoki doesn’t feel any pressure with the fact that he is in some bigger productions (acting) or that BE:FIRST is going on a world tour (artist) because he believes that one’s perspectives, beliefs, and life inevitably links to one’s acting and performance. He thinks both jobs require a sense of humanness to them so he wants to be unique. He thinks there are things that only he can do and he has a strong desire to express them so he’s prepared to take them on and do the best in the jobs he has been given. Yes, there are times when it gets difficult but he loves performing on stage and acting more than anything.
He does think his activities as an artist has helped him with his acting. He finds it fascinating because he never expected himself to be in a group doing music. It wasn’t in the road map he had at the time, but he went with his gut “Ride on something you have no idea what would happen” and he’s glad he did.
Ryoki started making his own music videos thinking it’s a chance for people to notice him during the pandemic since everyone was stuck at home. He expressed himself as much as he could in singing, dancing, as well as languages, into his MVs. He thinks it all connected to showing them to SKY-HI and becoming an artist after that.
Hope you enjoyed!
