BMSG Mic Relay (2023.09.01, 09.08, 09.15, 09.22)
During the month of September, artists and trainees of BMSG had a mic relay on FM 802 to celebrate BMSG FES '23
The schedule was as follows:
9/01 - Aile The Shota, REIKO
9/08 - edhiii boi, BMSG Trainees: RUI, TAIKI, KANON

Q: What’s the atmosphere at BMSG like?

🫧: The next person I’m introducing to the mic relay is a solo artist like me, REIKO. 👏👏👏
I’m happy I can introduce him like this. I’ve been waiting for this day to come. He came from the same audition program as me, BE:FIRST, RAN from MAZZEL, “THE FIRST”. We had a chance to make songs in that audition; we also took part as Opening Acts for SKY-HI’s tour.
When I debuted last year, REIKO was pretty much with me a lot. REIKO’s strength is how he puts his heart into his singing. It’s really beautiful. He recently posted a cover of “366 Days” to celebrate his debut, right? I think once you watch that, you’ll understand how good he is. Now he’s finally debuting! Makes you think… He’s a precious friend of mine.
Look forward to his pre-debut single, “No More”. Finally, a question for REIKO:
At the time of your debut, what’s artist REIKO most looking forward to?

To answer ATS’s question: Encounters I will have starting from now. Other artists, the art we’ll create, and various other producers and artists in the industry. Of course, I’m looking forward to meeting fans, from THE FIRST, or new fans at live events! I want to do lives at various events and places too!
I’ll be passing the mic to edhiii boi! He’s having his first one-man live in November, and the youngest solo artist in BMSG. What’s great about edhiii boi is his songwriting and production skills. If you listen to his album “edhiii boi is here” released in March this year, I think you’ll know what I mean!
Question for edhiii boi: What’s edhiii boi most looking forward to at his one-man live, “Creativity All Over”?

I hope I can show fans ways I have grown and how I’m still “edhiii boi” in others. I hope many people can come and see the live!
I’m passing the mic to 3 people, RUI, TAIKI, KANON.
The three of them are very pure, you can tell when you watch them, but once they hold a mic they’re full of colours.. Like red and blue, many many colours. So they’re like a blank canvas and painting it in all sorts of colours with their cool dancing and singing.
When I met them for the first time, I thought they were still childish. I’m a year older than them, so it felt like I had younger brothers. I’m very happy though, I remember how much fun I have with them.
I think they know what they’re good at and how to present themselves. Like, if I dance at this angle, it’ll look really good,” or when it’s a mellow song we need to put our core here, things like that.
My question for RUI, TAIKI, KANON is, “What is one thing you won’t lose to anyone at?”
On BMSG FES ‘23: I’m actually from the Kansai region, and I thought it’ll be nice to perform on a stage such as Osaka Castle Hall. I hope people can see how much I’ve grown and the best that I can right now at BMSG FES ‘23. Hope you can come and see us there!

Rather than BE:FIRST in general, I’ll share my personal thoughts…
🐼 rap is pretty aggressive, so I was thinking rap with trap music
👻 I haven’t really seen him perform yet, but I think it’ll be interesting to do a ballad with him, don’t you think so? We don’t do a lot of ballads [as BE:FIRST]. 👻’s voice is pretty low too, I think I’d want to do a ballad with him.
As for⚡, I think if it’s one of our songs, I think “Softly” will suit him. RnB suits him and I pretty well I think. We also have Fukuoka between us, so I think that’ll be interesting.
The next artist is SKY-HI, yes, our boss.
When I met him at the audition I was very nervous. I didn’t think he would be there at the 2nd Round of auditions. He was vibing as he watched me dance, that left an impression on me. He was a judge, but he provided a sense of relief, strange as it is to say.
As for a question… that’s hard because I’ve been meeting boss quite often recently.
What’s going to be your next colour (for his hair)?
Hi it’s SKY-HI. BMSG’s boss, CEO, it’s finally my turn now.
What’s BMSG to me? There’s a lot, but I think it’s a group of people with pure dreams. In baseball, it’s kind of like a high school baseball club aiming for the Koshien (Japan’s nationwide high school baseball tournament). They’re always like, “music should be more… like this…” It’s a group of comrades with very passionate goals and thoughts towards music. I think our attitude towards music is like that as well.
So a question from MANATO. Nothing related to music, none at all. Hmm, my career is very long so I’ve had chances to try different colours. I tried pink and got scolded by the big person in the office back then and was like, “well I’ll just stick to black or blonde then”. And I think I’ve stuck to that still, because between black and blonde… Oh wait, I did blue too. I think I’d like different colours all mixed in there too. If I’ll actually do it though is the question, lololol.
Next person in the mic relay is Novel Core 👿! The first artist [in BMSG]. When I started BMSG and THE FIRST and wanted to form a boy group, I thought of Core and reached out to him. He’s a very sincere and straightforward person. So I wanna hear about when Core wasn’t being honest, haha.

After the Osaka shows, the fes will be screened across Japan. We hope to shake things up in Japan, please look forward to it.
Novel Core
BMSG to me is, even though our styles are all very different, we’re a group of people who have the same stance. In BMSG we have solo artists and boy groups, BE:FIRST and MAZZEL are different in styles… Despite all that we all reach for the top without discrediting others, we all believe in that. I think that’s a very unique strength for those of us in BMSG.
I got a question from C.E.O. SKY-HI – has Core ever been dishonest?
That makes me look bad doesn’t it??
I really don’t have any, haha! I’m always honest.
If we really have to find something, then back when I was a student.
There was a pencil left on my desk, the lead inside fell out and it so happened that when it fell the lead stuck itself between the floorboards and stood. I was in 8th Grade so I was really stupid, I found that super cool so for a week I was obsessed with seeing if the lead from that pencil will stand up.
Before I realised, I’ve made little holes on my desk (he says kinda like strawberries). The school had to call my mom, hahahahahah! We all laugh about it now, but yeah, that’s something that happened!
I’m passing the mic next to MAZZEL!! They get along really well with each other. To me, I think it’s huge that RAN’s a part of the group. He appeared in my music video, “THANKS ALL MY TEARS” I’ve had many chances to talk to him when he was a trainee. MAZZEL’s an important group to me, and when I see them in rehearsals they really look like they love music and have fun. I hope that rubs off on their fans, MUZE too. I love them (MAZZEL) all!
Other than restaurants / to eat, are there any places you wanna go to with Novel Core? Please tell me! Hehehe! Quite simply I want to hang out with them, hahah, besides just going out for a meal.
