🌞: I wanted to provide a sense of safety, whether as the company or me as the CEO. I’m a producer for them too. I want them to know they’re loved and treasured here; and that they have a place. When they feel safe, then their personalities all come out ahahah 🤣🤣It’s amazing and fun. I’ve gone to BE:FIRST’s lives, MAZZEL’s, and Trainees… They’re all very interesting.
DJ: How do you bring out their personalities?
🌞: People usually use “personality” once they bring it out, right. Other times they say, “bring out your character”. It’s not like that [for me], I’m not here to erase or take something away [from them], I think there’s no need to take away anything. Whether it’s believing in yourself or those around you, you start to peel away those layers you had around you. I really think that.

🐧: I’ve never done sports before. I think I came to understand what’s great about baseball and soccer [from them]. When I was in Fukuoka I was performing alone most of the time, so in a way I didn’t have people who were around my age that had the same dreams (singing+dancing) I had. Meeting people who have the same goals as me feels like I’ve rewarded myself before, that it was good that I worked hard back then. Also, I think because I didn’t meet them until now, it’s been a good incentive [to keep improving / make music]. I’m glad I met everyone.

🐧: There were big changes in the audition, of course. As I look back on the past two years, we’ve arrived here through trial and error.. So I think these two years are us building the foundations. We’ve appeared in a lot of events and festivals.. My personal opinion is we did not plan a lot of it [lives and performances], it’s been two years of a lot of learning. In lives there are moments that are born from that point in time, right. If you think / plan for them, sometimes it doesn’t come to fruition. We’d be careful of course, but everyone [in BE:FIRST] would have something they want to show off at the right time, and I think that’s our strength. That’s what I think, personally, from these two years.
🫧: After 🐧, I think there is a lot of it that is the same for me. I’ve only debuted for 1.5 years, just about. When I look back, I think a lot of my work is my phase of building the foundations. In writing and releasing these songs, I’m building my self-awareness as “Aile The Shota”, the personal parts, the “Aile the Shota” in the Jpop, music scene… The “Aile The Shota” in BMSG… So from multiple angles, and I’m looking forward to changes from here.

🐧: I don’t think we’d have this song if we didn’t have our 2 years. In this age where we don’t know what will be a hit, we were thinking “how about we challenge ourselves and do this?”. Along with Hidaka-san, the members made this, after a lot of discussions.
🌞: Challenge is important, of course. And a desire to grow. Not from a “I want to do it!” but from a desire to be a better person, to be a better us. I think that’s important for artists, but for us as human beings in general. We impact a lot of people (staff), including fans, that’s a huge number.
