I had a lot of fun crossing over the year

This year’s going to be crazy, fr

I had Aile The Shota, LEO (BE:FIRST), and RUI, TAIKI over at my house and we had fun at a local game center.

Starting from January 5th, or actually 4th – ah REIKO also had something on the 1st – our artists will be on the move. I also have something I need to work on (carried over from last year), so starting today we’re all going to start working 🤘

NNG ep 13 just finished right? Thank you to everyone who has been supporting it. Just a little over a week! 8 days left until NNG THE FINAL and the members will be decided. I think it’s going to be a legendary day. We’ll also have the YT stream on the 12th right, I hope people who aren’t able to go enjoy it too.

I’ll be with BE:FIRST on the 8th and 9th, then with NNG on the 11th, there’s DUNK on the 12th and 13th.

The deadline for TLP is January 31st btw. So pretty much a second group’s debut is decided. I’m pumped, I know it’s a crucial year. BE:FIRST and MAZZEL are going to have their own HIT timings I think. We’re all pumped. It’s the 5th anniversary too, I hope we can look back on it and say, “2025 right?” I also know it’s going to be that kind of year, so I’m ready.

I say that, but I’m happy you know? I’m grateful I have a home to go back to and an office to go to. Not that I didn’t have any of those things before but I’m happy. The castle’s ready.

I imagined this five years ago but I was battling ideals, now I’m ready to take on the challenge. I’m fired up, truly.

Responding to what he said in the WBS and TK Deep Inside interviews


Around the year-end I had the WBS and TK Deep Inside interview didn’t I? [In the interviews] I said J-ent industry needs to change but it has been changing, you know, in these 4-5 years, quite hugely. But CD [business model] for example, is something we can’t just cut off from. We can’t just say, “Ah this [model of business] abuses fan’s oshikatsu and entices them to buy tons of CDs is bad for the environment and produces plastic waste, we’re gonna stop this!” because some people will be harmed by this, I’m not joking. I said it’s not going from zero to 100, but between black and white, lean towards a grey that’s whiter right?

Whether J-ent changes or not is not like we know a date right? It won’t change on this day and that moment. While I think DUNK in 2023 created some changes, I don’t think it changed everything. Then TBS had the Ongaku no Hi right, then this happened, that happened, a lot happened. And then, what each person was thinking of, little by little, slowly, with everyone, small changes were happening, leading to now, right? So things like, “Aren’t BE:FIRST and MAZZEL hitting a plateau?” or “So you’re gonna stop selling CDs then?”, I’m definitely going to focus on singles with streaming [not sure on this one], have enough budget set aside for this and have goods on sale round those periods of time. The fans too, spending money on what you like is fun right? I don’t think [people] should take advantage of that. Because they like it, is why they’re spending money on it. I think it’s our responsibility to create things that people think are fun and worth spending money on because they find it fun. The situation now is even if you don’t spend any money, you can support right? I’m happy if people join the Fan Clubs of course, buy the goods, come to lives, these all make me happy but – and it’s weird I say this – sometimes not spending a dime and still be able to support someone is good for the situation right now, isn’t it? On YouTube, listen to the songs on streaming [services], the money (profit) will come around eventually. So even just someone saying, “I’m supporting you!” makes me happy. Us artists are all supporting you in whatever you do in life too, that feeling is I think something only BMSG Artists have.

So.. how should I say it, being scared of offending the fans, or “I don’t want this [negative] discourse to go viral”, or getting fans to spend money – it’s not about that. I created this from nothing and it’s only been 4-5 years and we’re only in the 5th year. While the company has gotten big, the company’s first artist, Novel Core, hasn’t even hit his 5th year yet. So all of us here get it, and also how hard it is when there’s no one that tells us they support us. I remember all this like it happened yesterday. So for BE:FIRST to be on Kouhaku and JRA, I’m not going to forget it – how hard it was when no one supported us, leaving behind where everyone was. I’ve been feeling this a lot lately, that’s why we treasure the people who support us now, and we definitely won’t forget it. We haven’t forgotten and that’s why we’re strong. [BE:FIRST] can all feel the support and that’s why [they want to go overseas]. The fact that people want to support us makes us happy, we’re grateful. Truly.

It’s happiness if you can do something for the people you support right? So I want to make whatever I can that makes you want to buy x or y, and have it out there if I can. I also want to make songs. [Something about 48? IDK 😂] I want to make things whether you can only pay 1000 yen or 50K-60K [on oshikatsu] for the week.

“The only form of support is If you go out of your way to buy large quantities of the same thing!” – I don’t think that’s true. Because the result of things like that is rubbish. It will be hard, but say people throw away my CDs, or sell 10 of them for 100 yen. I know it’s impossible to suddenly reduce [plastic waste] to zero, but I want to change it little by little. Change it little by little! That’s how I want to do it.

This year is going to be a year of breakthroughs for BMSG. A new group is going to be born, The Last Piece, and of course, next week with No No Girls. Well, BE:FIRST also has their dome [tour] too, that’s important too so it’s difficult [for me].

A summary of THE FIRST


A new group will come out of No No Girls…. When I started THE FIRST I saw a lot of talented boys in Japan, with artisism that had no way to find success / debut. (And when I met SEITO a little before THE FIRST too.) There were so so many. After I started THE FIRST, I was like, “See, isn’t there a lot?” So.. a group that values musicality… I’m not saying there’s no boy group that doesn’t value musicality, that’s not what I mean.. But that’s where it all started. My goal wasn’t to make [the group] popular or to debut them – those things are important of course – but a group that releases music that they want to do, [placing] quality first, creativity first, and artisism first. That’s what kicked off THE FIRST and then a lot of people came. It was my first time too, first year as CEO, zero year as producer. I haven’t done producing before. After cutting [contestants] down to 20-30, to 15, to 10, with the birth of BE:FIRST and we’ve come all this way to now.

How SKY-HI came to know CHANMINA


I knew and understood the obstacles faced by people who wanted to be in a girl group were huge in a different way. When I started the company, and I remember saying this, when it was just Novel Core and me and we kanpai-ed (though Core was 19 at the time and he couldn’t drink, he can drink now). We were at my house after my at-home one-man was over, CHANMINA was there too. It’s truly fate that I knew her, she also appeared on my radio show, both of us guested at Miyavi’s live and our dressing rooms were next to each other. It was just one song so there was a lot of down time so I had a long long chat with her. Then COVID happened but I talked to her about various things, even if we don’t talk there’s a lot of things we agree and have similar views on. What I was going through and what she was going through, while not 100% the same, there were many things that resonated with both of us. So we talked about doing something at some point. Then the right time came, after we started No No Girls. A lot of people are grateful for [NNG] and I think it’s something this world needs. And a group will come out of NNG THE FINAL next week, once that happens they’ll change the world.

He wants everyone to watch THE FINAL, since the girls have put everything at stake that day. He hopes people who go see it live can look forward to it, and even if they can’t he’s positive the [YT] stream will convey everything. So look forward to it!

He hopes [the girls] can change the world or at least make 1 person happier. But whether artists, fans, or staff – he wants everyone to be happy. He’d be happy if there’s at least one extra person in the world who is happy.

🌞: Since being an artist is a job that holds / conveys dreams, a dream is not something as simple as “I made a lotta money!” or “I bought something good!”. I want to create a space where running towards and grabbing a hold of [your dream] is fun. Us, as artists, our fans, and our staff will be ourselves, and beyond that, everyone will be happy. I want to do that with everyone, so let’s all be happy together!

🌞: NNG #13 and next week #14, then the 11th is THE FINAL – look forward to all of them! It’s no joke!
