When BE:FIRST’s world tour kicked off in LA on April 22, the boys got to LA early for dance lessons and Sota got dancers together to film “Back On Stage”
The video for “Back On The Stage” is something boss has dreamed of doing ever since he made the song for them for D.U.N.K. Chapter 2 in 2023. He actually told Sota and Riehata this when he started making the song.
Rather than a typical MV, he wanted to highlight the dance performance. Since he wanted to highlight internationally renowned dancers, it was difficult to move this project forward due to budget and schedules, but it made boss realise, “Ah this is what I have been preparing for all along”
Scheduling all the dancers for the MV was tough, they actually had to reschedule the filming twice. Boss tried to make it happen whenever a new DUNK Showcase was announced but it didn’t work out. Since plans for beef’s world tour were taking shape, boss thought they’ll extend their stay in LA and finally make it happen there. LA also happens to be where many of the dancers are, so it was the perfect place for it
Boss asked Riehata and Sota, “Who are the hottest dancers right now?” and had them make a list. They then reached out to those dancers, sometimes even sending direct DMs through social media to make offers.
At the time of this Nikkei interview, boss had only seen some of the rehearsal footage, but he truly believes this is going to be something that resonates with dancers and dance lovers around the world.
Apparently, people who happened to be in the studio for their own lessons were totally shocked as world-class dancers just kept showing up one after another, lol
