On the 2nd episode of KAIRYU’s radio show TALK ABOUT, CHIKA and JISOO came in as guests!
Context: This is a big moment since, as part of BMSG, HANA is under the same company as Kairyu who is in MAZZEL, but we haven't seen much interaction between the girls and the boys until now. Kairyu and the girls talked for over an hour in his new radio show, TALK ABOUT, which he took from Kudo Taiki of Da-iCE, starting in April.
This translation was a divide-and-conquer effort, taking advantage of the time difference between
shizuna and me so we could bring you this interview as quickly as possible.
KAIRYU ☕️
CHIKA 🦕
JISOO 🅹 (since we didn’t really agree on an emoji for unnie)
☕ ego-searched after his first TALK ABOUT episode and he’s happy that his first episode of TALK ABOUT is well-received
--------
☕️ Please!
🦕 We’re from HANA, CHIKA
🅹 and JISOO!
☕️ Oh, that’s nice, the debut song! Making their major debut on the 2nd of this month. 7-member girls group. HAna.. haNA?
🦕 🅹 haNA
☕️ From HANA, we have CHIKA and JISOO here. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!
🦕 🅹 Nice to meet you!
☕️ Today, HAna is... haNA is…
🦕 haNA is...
☕️ Yes, the intonation is kind of hard.
🦕 It’s a little tricky.
☕️ haNA?
🦕 haNA!
☕️ HANA is the girl group that was formed through an audition with BMSG and Chanmina. The 7-member girl group chosen from No No Girls in January, after the final judging at K-Arena Yokohama. Then on April 2nd, they officially made their major debut. Congratulations!
🦕 🅹 Thank you very much!
☕️So, how does it feel to debut? Well, yeah, I’m kinda close to it too, it’s been about two years since I debuted. You are about 1 week in now?
🦕 🅹 1 week
☕️ You must be super busy.
🦕 Exactly, and this is our first time doing radio as well.
☕️ First radio! Is it really okay to do that with Kairyu…
🦕 Of course! You are our big senpai. Thank you!
☕️ Thank you!
NNG is really getting talked about! Even when I check TikTok, feels like out of 10 videos, like 7-8 of them are NNG
🦕 🅹 Thank you so much!
☕️ I’ve been watching it a lot, and I saw it so much on TikTok that when I saw you in real life…
The first time I met you was at the company... something ice (??).. What was that again?
🦕 ah, yeah yeah yeah!
☕️ Like some kind of group gathering thing. And I thought, "Whoa, they are real!"
🦕 🅹 No, really, we’re the ones who felt that way!
☕️ Now then, this talk segment with the two of you from HANA. Please announce tonight’s theme.
🦕 Tonight’s Talk About theme is... “The day we cried”
🅹 “From frustration, from joy”
☕️ So today, we’re going to hear about the days our listeners cried. Whether it was out of frustration or happiness, there are lots of tears. How about you? Tears, that kid of theme was a big thing on NNG as well.
🅹 Yeah, we’ve cried a lot.
☕️ Yeah there were a lot of crying scenes shown.
☕️ So, we’re already connected with a listener, so let’s get started! Hello?
☎️ Hello!
🦕 🅹 ohh sugoi!
☕️ Good evening, we’re KAIRYU of MAZZEL, Kai and Ryuu, and
🦕 form HANA, CHIKA and
🅹 JISOO!
☕️ What’s your name?
☎️ I’m a third-year student at a university in Kyoto, My radio name is hiyokomame (chickpeas)
☕️ Ah, hiyokomame that’s cute. hiyokomame -san, when was the day you cried?
☎️ Well, recently I cried a lot while playing the piano.
☕️ You play it?
☎️ Yes, I’m playing the piano. I’m attending a music university.
🦕 When did you start?
☎️ I started when I was five years old.
☕️ Oh, that’s early, five years old! How did you get started?
☎️ My parents took me to a piano class, and I continued doing it
☕️ I heard you’ve won some competitions?
☎️ Ah, yes. When I was in third grade of elementary school, I entered a competition. And I unexpectedly made it to the national finals!
☕️So, did you decide on attending a music university quickly?
☎️ Yes, I was thinking of going to a regular university until the last minute. But when I imagined my future, I couldn’t picture myself without music. So, I decided to go to a music university.
☕️ That’s amazing!
🅹 I think it’s very hard to get into a music university. Was it really difficult?
☎️ Yes, it was really hard. The entrance exam was tough, but also the practice was intense.
☕️ Yes you have to do it hours everyday
☎️ In high school, it was like 4-5 hours
☕️ Did you have any time for fun?
☎️ Not really, it was all about the piano. I actually had a relationship until recently, but because I was so busy with piano, we broke up.
☕️ We don’t hear that often! Breaking up because of being busy with the piano.
I heard you were at a camp?
☎️ Yes, it was a two-week program. We stayed at a camp and had lessons from international teachers. I participated as a student, but it was a big shock, and I cried a lot there.
☕️ Can I ask what happened?
☎️ Sure. There were professional pianists there, people aiming for the world stage, and I had never encountered that kind of atmosphere before, it was the first time I faced it. The teacher was really tough on me, asking "Why can’t you do this?" And that made me feel like, “Is this as far as I can go?” I was so down about it, I ended up crying
☕️ That happens, right? Auditions and stuff… and also, we probably weren’t the type to debut super fast either, I was like that.
🦕 Yeah, same. I was like that too. Actually, I started dancing when I was five, my parents took me. So I feel what you dom I know it too! It’s hard. When I moved to Tokyo, I really felt like… I’m so small. I wasn’t like, super confident or anything, but I still thought, “I’m not a big deal”
☕️ Although you were a big deal!
🦕 laughs
☕️ Jisoo-chan how did you push yourself forward?
🅹 It took until I was 24 to finally debut. I started in my second year of high school. I cried a lot and there were so many times I thought about quitting. But because I loved it, it was really hard to give up.
☕️ How are things now after the camp?
☎️ I just became a third-year university student this April, and now I’m at the point of deciding whether to job hunt or not. So now, it’s like, should I aim to go pro and study abroad, or get a job at a regular company? I’m at that crossroads. I was so torn about it, really didn’t know what to do. But then on April 2nd, HANA released ROSE I listened to the song. There’s that line in the chorus “the flower though stained in mud”. And I thought of all the No No Girls, how you all cried so much and worked so hard. And I thought, “I haven’t even gotten covered in mud yet.” If I keep pushing myself, get really messy, then maybe I can stand in that shining place like all of you. That gave me courage. Thank you. Really, it was a big turning point for me. I’m really glad HANA debuted.
🅹🦕 Thank you so much that makes us so happy!
☕️ I mean, like, the people around you during NNG were probably all really amazing, right?
So did you feel down a lot [looking at the other around you].
🅹🦕Like every day
☕️ You cried everyday?
🅹Yes. I cried alone. I didn’t want to cry in front of the camera. I held it in.
☕️ I saw it I saw it, when the Jisoo who held it in ended up crying. How did you face all of that?
🦕 How did you keep going?
☕️ It is hard to know it looking back right, Just, in each moment, somehow…
🅹 I cried a lot and then went, “Okay, let’s do this.” I think crying is really important.
🦕 The feeling that aou’re not alone,
☕️ Exactly, that you are not alone. Evnthough I don’t know what kind of environment you’re in now, but whatever ou can mke into the reason to push forward, let that be NNG, it is, if you can turn it into your reason to keep going, that’s great.
Then, can I ask a cheer message from both of you? Like a final encouragement?
🦕 A cheer, hmm…
If you have the chance to go abroad, I really think you should go.
☎️I’ll do my best. Thank you.
🅹 And if it’s something you love, don’t give up till the very end. Even if you’re all muddy, let’s keep pushing forward together!
(In the background 🦕 goes “is it okay what I said?” haha)
☎️I really feel like I got a lot of courage.
Oh, can I say one more thing?
☕️Sure, go ahead!
☎️On April 2nd, when ROSE was released … that’s actually my birthday! It was the best birthday ever! I really wanted to say that.
🅹🦕☕️ Happy Birthday! Yay!
Thank you!
☕️ Yes, that was HANA’s debut single, ROSE.
🅹🦕 Thank you very much!
☕️ That’s your debut song, right? So at first you listened to a demo, right?
🦕yes
☕️ How did it feel back then?
🦕 I cried because I was so happy.
☕️ So how does it feel? It’s been about three months since the group formed
🅹 Has it really been three months, really
🦕 Really we rarely have time
🅹 Yeah, there is little time
☕️You've been super busy, right?
🅹 We’re just really grateful.
☕️ Today’s theme is The day we cried. From frustration, from joy
We’ve been listening to stories from our listeners about the times they cried, and we’re taking another call now.
Let’s connect. Hello?
📞 Hello!
☕️What’s your name?
📞I’m a second-year high school student from Kanagawa, radio name: Hone-Katabon.
Last summer. I cried because of someone I liked.
☕️ Ooh, a storm is coming Who was this person you liked?
📞 He was a classmate from my first year. At first, I was drawn to his calm vibe and looks… Then we talked and found out we liked the same artist. It was really fun, and we were even in the same school club, so we got close. And he was the first person I’d ever liked in my life.
☕️ Did you tell anyone about your feelings?
📞Yeah, my best friend supported me.
☕️Did you two talk about your crushes and stuff?
📞Yeah, we got even closer through that. We always talked about love stuff.
🦕 So you bonded through your love stories?
📞 Yes.
☕️ Did your best friend talk about her crush too?
📞She did. We both had different people we liked and we cheered each other on.
🦕 That’s so nice!
🅹 So your friend also had a crush, how did that love turn out?
📞That didn’t go well for my friend either.
🦕 Oh…no
📞So it didn’t work out for weither of us.
🦕 Why didn’t it work out?
📞I had a chance to go to a live concert with the guy I liked, just the two of us. We started to talk about love and things, and I worked up the courage to ask him if he liked someone.
☕️And? And? And?
📞 He said he was interested in… my best friend.
🦕 No way!! I can’t with that!
🅹 Oh no!!
☕️ Oh! I had a bad feeling about this… You must’ve been so shocked.
📞 Yeah, my mind went completely blank.
🦕 Yeah, I get that.
☕️ What happened after that?
📞 We talked about it before the concert, so I couldn’t even enjoy the show.
☕️ Oh no, I feel so sorry for you! Did you tell your best friend about what he said? She already liked someone else at the time.
📞 But I told her, and she said, “Don’t worry, I won’t fall for him.”
🦕 Hmm... I see.
☕️What happened after that?
📞 The guy started calling and talking about love stuff, and since both my best friend and I weren’t really pursuing our crushes anymore, she ended up giving up on hers… and then one day she said she started liking my crush.
🦕 🅹 Ughhh, nooo.
☕️ Once you fall, it’s hard to help it.
Then what happened?
📞 About a month later, they started dating.
☕️ That was fast! High school speed is something else.
🦕 Was it your best friend who told you?
📞Yeah. She called me aside in school in the morning and said, “we ended up dating”
🅹🦕 “ended up” pfff
☕️ And in the morning? So that’s when you cried?
📞Yeah, I cried. It canot be helped but it still hurts. I was so frustrated.
🅹 Are you and your best friend still close?
📞 I didn’t want to make things awkward so I kept everything as it was. But when I see them together, I feel this cloudy feeling
🦕You’re too kind…
☕️ That’s painful. Did you ever make a move yourself?
📞 No, I just watched from afar.
🦕 You're too kind…
☕️ Have you talke dot anyone about this?
📞 Nope. I kept it all in.
🦕 Wow… Has your best friend said anything to you since they started dating?
☕️ Oh, like a curse or something?
📞 Surprisingly, no.
☕️ Soooo, who’s in the wrong here? I mean… no one’s really at fault, right?
🦕 Weeeeellll
☕️ But, Chika, you look like you have an opinion!
🦕 Honestly, yeah it’s a bity icky. That best friends a bit icky. Yeah, not a fan of that move.
☕️ Jisoo, your take? Are you on the side of this cannot be helped I think it canot be helped
🅹 Hmmm, couldn’t it be helped?
☕️ Maybe there is a difference in how men and women look at it? What should she do now?
It’s already happened, so… You’ll need to find a way to deal with the frustration.
Maybe try putting a little distance between you?
🦕 I mean, If it was me, I’d look for new friends
☕️ Whoa, Chika’s is angry for real
Are you still on good terms now?
📞Yes, we’re still friendly.
🦕 You are kind!
☕️ And you would like to continue bign frineds?
📞Yes, if it possible.
🦕 You are really kind again!
☕️ So maybe there is nothing else to do and time will heal it?
🦕 Chika would not be okay with it haha
🅹 I think putting a bit of space might be good too
🦕 But if they ever break up…
☕️Indeed, they might break up too. Still, no need to hurt yourself trying to hang in there. Maybe find a balance.
📞Thank you so much!
☕️ How did it feel to talk about it today?
📞 I love you all, seriously. Talking to you made me so happy I cried.
🦕 Aaaah
☕️ We're really glad to hear that. Thank you!
🅹 Thank you.
☕️And hey, school life isn’t just about romance, right?
🦕 Right!!
☕️There are lots of other things to enjoy.
Even if you’re not totally over it, when you are, and if you meet someone new, tell us about it.
📞 Yes! Thank you so much.
☕️ Hang in there!
☕️ This part is where we introduce listener written messages, so Chika, please go ahead.
🦕 Yes, of course.
Radio name: Azuki, 3rd-year high school student.
I’m in the tennis club.
Lately, I’ve been making an obviously strange amount of mistakes. Even in a match that would decide if I could play in my retirement game, I lost to a younger member! Every day just wasn’t going well. One day after practice, I talked to my kumon teacher. That day I couldn’t hit the ball at all, it was like I’d suddenly gotten bad. The moment I started talking, I ended up crying. The teacher said, “Maybe you’re overthinking and that’s what’s causing the mistakes. Try to hit while thinking about what you can do, not what you can’t. Let’s keep working hard from tomorrow.” That made my heart feel a little lighter. I’m still a little nervous, but I want to enjoy the rest of my club life and do my best until I can.
☕️ Happens a lot!
🦕 It really does.
☕️ What was your experience?
🦕 For me, it was during my part-time job. A month before I was going to quit, everything suddenly started going wrong, orders were messed up, I made mistakes. It’s like the moment I realised “this is ending soon,” my focus totally dropped. When I have to do something, unnecessary thoughts and distractions come into my mind!
☕️ What happened to Azuki to make it get like that, I wonder. What about you, Jisoo? Have you experienced anything like that?
🅹 Hmm… I think maybe it’s when your desire to do well becomes too big.
🦕 That pressure can cause mistakes.
☕️ When that happened, did you talk to anyone about it?
🅹 No, I can’t really do that
🦕 It’s a Jisoo battle
☕️ Yes I thought that already! Sometimes someone’s words can save you. Like Chanmina, or Sky-Hi, or Ryonyon-sensei, has anyone said something that really stuck with you?
🅹 Chanmina really saved me with so many of her words. One that really helped me was: “You don’t have to be perfect at everything. It’s okay to not always be great.” That still helps me now.
🦕 For me, I was told: “Cut it out already!”
☕️ Oh, I saw that, I saw that!
🦕 I never had much confidence, and I was always being reassured, like, “You’re doing fine,” or “You’re good at this.” But I’d never been told to knock it off! My self-denial was coming out in a really bad way in my performance. And even when we were creating something as a group,t hat part of me often got in the way inside my mind.So having someone properly get mad at me..I felt really grateful for that!
☕️ Crying suddenly when you talk to a teacher like that is very relatable. And it really can lift that heavy feeling off your chest. So I hope Azuki feels at least a little lighter from this!Next message, Jisoo, please.
🅹 Radio name: Kotomi. I often get underestimated by friends. One time, I scored just a little higher than them on a test, and they said things like: “What? I lost to Kotomi? That’s embarrassing.”
☕️ Who even says that…
🅹 But one day, a super kind classmate told me: “Kotomi, you’re not stupid at all. It’s amazing how you can keep enduring when people say all that stuff to you. I couldn’t do it.” That person also said they tend to get underestimated too, so maybe they could relate. I was so happy to hear that, I bursted out in tears
☕️That’s definitely a big crying moment! There really like that. If you’re aiming for entertainment or dreams, people often don’t take it seriously until you actually succeed. They’ll say stuff like,“You’re still doing that?” even if they don’t say it out loud, I wondered if they think bout me that way. Did you have the same?
🦕 Hmm…how is it?
🅹 I don’t talk a lot to people, so I don’t really get told a lot.
☕️ These two today are tough!
🦕To be underestimated….
☕️ Certainly you two don’t seem like you could be underestimated!
🦕 Kotomi seems like such a kind person. Maybe someone who’s really forgiving.
☕️ People who say something kind in a moment like that, they often become your lifelong friends. So I hope Kotomi treasures that friend! Keep going!
----- there was Neo’s segment about the top 5 YouTube channels listeners selected ----
neo Finally, Kairyu-san, are there any YouTubers you're checking out? Please let me know! Bye-bye!
☕️ Yes, well, the YouTube channels I watch… um, the ones I watch the most. I like comedians as lot.
🦕 Oh, same here!
☕️ Oh, really? Like Kamaitachi-san ([Bad username or site: kamaitachi @ channel]), for example. And Shimofuri Tube (
shimofuri_tube). And do you know Okada wo oe? (
okadawooe_green)
🦕 Ah, I don’t know that.
☕️ They do a lot of things at home, invite guests in a tatami room, with a completely shaved head! And Lee-ke Everyday (
leefamilyeveryday ) they’re a Korean family, and they speak Japanese fluently. They film their daily life and stuff. Who dou like?
🦕 On the Saraba Seishun no Hikari YouTube channel (
sarabaoyc) there is a radio show called Urban Blue Radio. It's hosted by Shizuru KAƵMA and Furūtsu Ponchi Murakami.
☕️ What, on Saraba's channel??
🦕 Yeah,it’s abit strnage but they do a radio show together on Saraba’s channel, and I listen to it every week.
☕️ Jisoo do you watch anything?
🅹 I watch things like baking, and cooking. (Jisoo pronound baking not in the japanese katakana way)
☕️ O, baking!
🅹 Yes, baking. Mukbang.
☕️Mukbang, right. That’s a big thing in Korea.
🦕 Food-related content.
☕️ Everyone, thank you! Please continue supporting us next week. This has been Neo Talk About!
☕️This is Talk About with Kairyu from MAZZEL, tonight with Chika-san and Jisoo-san from HANA. Please continue listening. We're going to hear stories about the days everyone cried. Next, we have a phone call. Hello?
☏Hello.
☕️Good evening, what’s your name?
☏ I live in Fukuoka Prefecture. I'm a second-year middle school student, and my name is Niina. The day I cried was when I watched No No Girls.
🦕 Thank you!
☕️ They’re the real ones!
🦕 What made you watch NNG?
☏ I dance!
☕️ What made you start dancing?
☏ I watched a local dance performance, and it was so sparkling that I wanted to be like that, so I joined a dance school.
☕️What were the lessons like at first?
☏At first, it was like a small community center. The teacher told me to join a school, so I did.
☕️ I see, like a place with a lot of people?
☏Yes, there are about 150 people.
☕️ That's a serious school! What motivated to work even harder?
☏ I saw artists like BE:FIRST and Novel Core on TV, and thought they were so cool.
☕️ Did you see any results from your hard work?
☏ Yes, I made it to the advanced level.
☕️ Advanced level! That’s amazing!
🦕 Thank you, we’re so happy you watched No No Girls. Did you ever audition for anything?
☏ I always thought, why don’t they have a BMSG Girls Group audition? So when NNG was announced, I really wanted to audition, so I told my mom a lot about it. But since I was still in compulsory education, I was in elementary school. I guess it’s impossible.
☕️ There’s nothing to do about that
🅹 Do you ever talk about your dreams with anyone?
☏ At school, when we had to talk about our dreams, and said I want to do this and some boy told me, you will never become that, you can’t do that-
☕️ Just like NNG.
☏ - so, even if I auditioned, I thought I’ll probably fail. If I failed, I’d be even sadder. So, I ended up not applying.
☕️ I get what you mean and why you end up feeling that way! But there are always chances. So, what was it like watching NNG?
☏ Before watching it, I was already so excited and curious about what kind of group they would form. Then, as it progressed, I realised that everyone had similar struggles to mine. That’s when I started crying. Everyone overcame their struggles and moved forward, but I couldn’t do that. I thought, I should’ve applied.
☕️ I see. There will always be more chances! You’re in elementary? Oh, you’re in middle school now, so you have time. Yeah, the NNG application was quite a while ago. Were you nervous before the audition?
🦕 Ac tually I was 2nd grde in middle school, when I was told off for my body. So I was the saem age and had similar feelings, let’s do our best together!
🅹 For me it was about my age. So, I was worried about my age before the audition, but I ended up being the oldest one. But even though I’m 24 now, I was able to debut, so there are always opportunities! Keep working hard!
🦕 Don’t give up! That’s really important.
☕️ Yeah, all of us here have debuted after we turned 20. You’re still so young! If you keep working hard, things will happen! There are people who will tell you weird stuff [like you can’t do it] but. You’re talking to two people you admire, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask!
☏ Eh? I’d like to ask Chika-san, what’s your favorite food in Fukuoka?
☕️ Ehhh? Is that okay? With that question?
🦕 First of all, I’m an udon person. You know what I mean? [Fukuoka is famous for both ramen and udon so I am guessing it is a reference to that but correct me please!] Wait, have you been to the East Japan area before? In East Japan you should be careful! The soy sauce is different! Even if you go to eat sushi, it’s different soy sauce, so you’ll be surprised.
☕️ Now, apart from food, is there anything else you’d like to ask Jisoo?
☏ Well, I’d like to know, considering the differences between foreign countries and Japan, how did you overcome your inner struggles?
☕️ Great question!
🅹 Ahhh. Even now, Japanese is still difficult for me. There have been a lot of challenges, but the environment around me has been very kind and supportive. By talking to those around me, they empathised with me, and that helped me get through it.
☕️ I think that many people will lend a helping hand, so be sure to lean on others and keep working hard.
🅹 Yes.
☕️Thank you for the call! Do you have any words of encouragement for Nina, you two?
🦕 Hmm, well, the fact that you’ve made it this far is really amazing. Keep pushing forward!
You still have a lot of time so don’t worry too much about that. Don’t listen to those talking about you too much, let’s do our best!
☕️ Yes, Good luck, Nina! Thank you!
☕️Alright, that was DROP by HANA. This is your pre-debut song, right? And you performed it during the final audition too, so it must be super memorable for you, huh?
🦕 It’s probably the song we sang the most at this point.
☕️ So this was re-recorded as a 7-member version after debut, right? How was it when the 7-member version was completed?
🅹 Really, everyone’s voices are amazing.
☕️ I’ve been listening to it so much too!
🦕 🅹 That makes us so happy. Thank you!
☕️ The lyrics are great too, right? The lyrics are?
🦕 Chanmina-san.
☕️ The lyrics are by Chanmina-san with a bit of everyone’s-
🦕 No its completely Chanmina-san.
☕️ But during the screenings you did you own lyrics too
🦕 Yes, during the creative screenings we wrote our own lyrics too. This one by Chanmina-san.
☕️ There’s a music video for DROP too, right? It was the first music video you shoot, before ROSE.
🅹 Exactly. It was the first. The first MV shoot of our lives.
☕️Any memorable moments?
🅹 Wow, I filmed really late, because I was the last for my solo cut, and it was super cold.
☕️It was cold? The cold is definitely what comes up when talking about MV shoots.
🦕 But actually, while everyone said it was cold, I was the only one in a super thick outfit. I was all layered up and hot, I had like 3 electric fans. It was seriously so hot! I was in long sleeves and a down jacket!
🅹 Wheel I had a heat pad!
🦕 Really! Everoyne was so cold.
☕️ So that was a real tear!
🅹 Yes! Real tear!
☕️Yuri-chan helped bring it-
With Yuru’s help!
☕️ it was so cool! That was a real train station?
🦕 🅹 It’s a real station!
🦕 And it was not a very busy one, but there were still people passing through. So we stopped [to let them pass].
☕️Where is it? Oh well not that important, But it’s so cool! Please watch it everyone!
But now that we are here, I will ask Jisoo-san about her favourite food. There was soe talk about soy sauce before.
🅹 I actually use Korean soy sauce when I cook at home.
🦕 It’s different?
☕️Oh it’s different!
🅹 It’s different from Japanese soy sauce, maybe just a little. Recently, I made eggplant with Korean soy sauce and ate it with Naoko, and she was like, “What is this? It’s seriously delicious!” She said Korean soy sauce is delicious too, so we went to Shin-okubo [korea town in tokyo] together to buy it!
☕: Ah, so they sell it at Shin-Okubo. Niina-chan, are you listening? Definitely go buy it!
☕️It’s now 11pm. This is Talk About with Kairyu from MAZZEL, tonight with Chika-san and Jisoo-san from HANA. Please continue listening. We're going to hear stories about the days everyone cried. We have our next phone call. Hello?
🦕🅹 Hello?
📲Hello
☕Hi, good evening! It’s Kairyu from MAZZEL and
🦕 HANA’s Chika and
🅹 Jisoo~
☕ Your name please!
📲 I’m A, a first-year from Haru University in Chiba.
☕ So this is about the day A-san cried?
📲 The day I cried was last September at the Cultural Festival.
🦕☕ Cultural Festival!! / 🅹 hmmm!
🦕 Will this be about happy crying then?
☕ True! But we don’t know yet dunno yet
☕ If it’s last September you would’ve been in your third year of high school right?
📲 Yes
☕ What did you do for the Cultural Festival?
📲 I was the Student Council President
☕ That’s amazing!
🦕🅹 Amazing~
📲 I was both Student Council President and the Committee Chairman for the Cultural Festival, so I was leading whether in terms of my position or the responsibilities I had.
☕ So you were pulling everyone along for the Cultural Festival then!
🦕🅹 Awesome~
📲 Yes
☕ You were pretty much the leader right? For the Cultural Festival
📲 Yeah
☕: Nice, that’s cool!
🦕: Ah, I see~ What did you do for the Cultural Festival?
📲 So our school has a Cultural Festival at the start of the year, April and in September. So [up until September] we were making things, like pamphlets, and managing the progress of all the clubs at school. Plus any loans or borrows.
🅹 Wow~
🦕 Some of the things you have to do sound difficult!
☕And a lot!
🅹 A lot!
🅹 Did the preparations for all of that go well?
📲 No, not at all 😩
☕ She’s honest!
🅹 Oh no~
🦕 Oh no~ I get ittt!
☕ What happened what happened?
📲 My school still does a lot of things on paper…
🦕 Ohohhhh hahah wwww
☕Got to choose your words carefully
📲 I would share our suggestions with the teacher advisor, but sometimes our opinions didn’t match so things were in quite a bind for a while…
☕ uh huh uh huh
📲 Plus some classes wanted something new at the very last minute, so when [the festival] wrapped up they said some pretty harsh things…
🦕 Eh~?
☕ So there were a lot of complaints you could say
📲 Yes
🦕 Why?
☕ Were you alright? Despite what was said?
📲 In my case, I was aware I was in a senior position, so I handled my role thinking I shouldn’t show that I’m having a tough time… But it was honestly very hard…
🦕 Of course!
☕ Yeah~
📲 I didn’t cry in the classroom but I did cry a lot in the Student Council office and at home.
🦕 Eehhnnnnnn~
☕ mm mm mmm
🦕 Of course you would~
🦕 What about on the day of the Cultural Festival? Did it go smoothly?
📲 There was an incident during the opening ceremony…
☕ That quick!!
🦕 Eeehhhh?
☕ What happened?
📲 We collected promo clips, but we left a kouhai to edit the clips together… and we were supposed to check the final video during rehearsal, but I had requests from classes last-minute, so I wasn’t able to see it during the rehearsal… So when it was the actual opening, I noticed that the clip regarding our clubs was not in it…
☕ Oh noooooo!
🦕: WAaaahhhh! Omg noooo!
☕ There’s probably a lot of clubs too but none of that was in there!?
📲 Yeah… In the end, I played the clips using my smartphone, but that happened…
🅹 But I think you handled the situation well despite the accident, that’s very good.
☕🦕 Yeah!
🅹 Did anything else happen after that?
📲 There were quite a lot of other incidents after that…
🦕 Omg no wayyy~ Stressful~
☕ Nani nani, what kind of things happened?
📲 So the performances in the gym were crammed pretty tight. The previous band finishes playing and the next band is already starting.. It got like that.
🦕☕ Ah~
📲 Or, why isn’t there anyone in the Homeroom…
🦕☕ I see!
🦕 So that’s what happened
📲 So everyone in the Student Council did rounds and we made calls as we checked the classrooms…
☕ You guys worked hard! Did your best!
🦕 You did~
☕ How was the festival after it all finished?
📲 I think I was traumatized mostly.
🦕 Eeehhhh?
☕ Mmm, I see
📲 Even when I look back on it now I cry
🦕 It was tough right 🥺
☕ Was there anyone that told you, “You did your best! Good job!”?
📲 There were a couple…
🦕☕ Mmm~
📲 But I think people had the image that the Cultural Festival committee members worked harder than the Student Council
🦕 EEEEEEeeehhhhhh!!!???
🅹 Everyone worked hard didn’t they?
☕ So they saw it separately
📲 Yeah, I got the feel that people saw the class committee (for Cultural Festival) more than what the Student Council was doing… A lot of my friends cheered me up, but there were more mistakes and failures [than successes].
☕ It happens, things not going well~
☕ Have you two had things not going smoothly?
🦕 I’m the type that participates in events like this.
☕ Oh you are?
🦕 I am, I was the leader for the cheering squad (ouendanchou)
☕ You look like you do!
🦕 From the outside, it looks very flashy and wonderful but when you actually do it, it’s like you’re running in circles. And first-years usually don’t take it seriously… 😂
☕ Ooohhhh, first-years! Get it together!
🦕 I’d tell them, if you take it seriously it will be really fun! They’d go, “What? 🤨” and they’d get annoyed. Chika has also had some bad experiences and harsh things said to me.
☕ There are kouhais that would act like that with Chika-senpai?
🦕 mmm, you did your best! Seriously! 😭🥹
☕ You did!
☕ Even on radio you’d get flustered too. Has there been a way for you to change those experiences into something positive?
🅹 I did a lot of these things in elementary school… I remember getting really tired
🦕 You do!
🅹 I don’t do that now, but I’ve had these experiences so when other people talk to me about theirs, I’ve kind of grasped how to talk to them about it
☕ Because you’ve failed before
🦕 Yeah~
☕ That’s true, for A-chan maybe because she has experienced this, next time something happens… Has it?
📲 Mmm, but…
☕ She’s still traumatized
🦕 She issss
☕ It’s hard right~
📲 Yes
☕ You’re now a college student right?
📲 Yes
☕ Have you thought of doing something?
📲 I have thought of giving Cultural Festival Committee member another shot…
☕ Wah!
🅹 Amazing!
☕ That’s great!
🦕 Even though it was quite tough before, it was fun?
📲 Yes, there were many times music really saved me. I worked really hard, it was tough… [When I went to] my fave artist’s live, what they said during the MC made me feel like I can keep going.
🅹 Sugoi x5
🦕 I think it’s amazing you want to give it another try!
🅹 Sugoi!
☕ I agree! Do your best slowly!
📲 I will!
🦕 Ganbatte~
☕ Enjoy college!
📲 Thank you!
☕ This is Talk About with Kairyu from MAZZEL, tonight with Chika-san and Jisoo-san from HANA. Last spurt, onegaishimasu!
🦕🅹 Onegaishimasu!
☕ This next call is our last one! Let’s get right into it! Hello?
🦕🅹 Hello~
📳 Hello
☕ Hi! It’s Kairyu from MAZZEL and
🦕 HANA’s Chika and
🅹 Jisoo~
☕Your name please!
📳 I’m Akane, a third-year student at Osaka University
🦕 Onegaishimasu
📳 Onegaishimasu
☕ When did Akane-san cry?
📳 I cried in high school, when I decided to withdraw from high school.
☕ Mm! Voluntary withdraw huh…
🦕Voluntarily… >A<
☕ When was this?
📳 In October during my second year of high school
☕ If it’s OK with you, can you tell us the reason?
📳 I was really happy going to school in my first year…
🦕☕ mmm mmmm
📳 And I made friends. But once we got to our second year, I was getting bullied…
🦕: Eehh?! 🤨
📳 It was hard for me, because [the bullies] were people I was friends with. The reason I got bullied also escalated
☕ Oh dear…
📳 And by summer vacation I didn’t feel like I could go to school anymore
☕ [You were bulllied] By people you were friends with?
📳 Yes
🦕 That’s the worst~!
☕ And that’s the reason you withdrew from school?
📳 Yes, I started feeling unwell and mentally I didn’t feel like I could go back. When I thought of going back into class, I’d start feeling sick.
🦕🅹 Ohh
📳 I used to really like studying
🦕 Eh? Sugoi~
📳 My class ranking was always first place and my average was always above 90
🅹 Wah~ Sugoi~
📳 So I was really frustrated that I couldn’t go back to a classroom anymore.
☕ That must’ve really sucked.
🅹 You’re a college student now, how have you been doing lately?
📳 After I dropped out of school, I immediately applied for a high school graduation certificate, then I was doing part-time jobs (baito) as I studied and prepared for college entrance exams. Now I’m a college student.
🦕 That’s amazing~!
🅹 I think so too!
☕ Yeah, truly amazing! It was probably when you had the toughest time too, dropping out of your own accord. You must’ve been really frustrated
📳 Yeah, I didn’t go to cram school, I just stayed at home all the time.
🦕 Eh?
☕ Ehhhhhh, sugeeeee
🦕 Sugoi~
☕ What motivated you to keep going and do your best?
📳 My parents were supportive, they told me to do my best because whatever happens they’ll have my back. Even though I dropped out of school, they said it’s me so I’ll be OK.
🦕☕ Ehhh
☕ The power of words! Did anything you love help you out too?
📳 I really like SEKAI OWARI-san, the vocal, Fukase-san talked about his high school life, and he always said, “I only have a middle school graduation diploma, so what? I’m totally fine.” It made me think, even though I dropped too, I’ll be OK.
☕ In the end it’s people!
📳 Yes!
🦕 Are you enjoying college?
📳 I’m enjoying college very much
☕ ARA! That’s great!
📳 I’m studying early childcare and it’s fun being around children at my internship placement. I’ve always liked studying so I am enjoying my studies too. I also live alone right now but I am enjoying life.
🅹 Sugoi~
☕You’re super duper strong!
🅹 So it’s not hard living on your own?
📳 It is tough, but it feels like I have two places I can call home.
🅹 unnm unnm unnm
📳 If I go back to my parents’ / family’s house, they always welcome me back
🅹 Ah~
📳 And here it feels like my own space, so it’s fun!
🅹 You’re very positive!
☕ Sugoi ne~
🦕 Teach me!
☕ Right~? How she overcame all that. Everyone is giving you a look of respect right now
📳 www
☕ You can’t see us, but we truly think you’re doing amazing
☕ You can’t see us, but we truly think you’re doing amazing. I’m sure there are a lot of people like you, who have experienced something similar, so have confidence in yourself overcoming all of that!
📳 OK
☕ Maybe there are people who are being bullied right now who are listening, what kind of message will you tell them to help them overcome it?
📳 I’m not sure how much of what I say will reach the people who are struggling.. Most of my days were spent at school, so if school feels tough then it’s like everything sucks. But I think if you take a step forward, and expand your horizons / perspective, there are actually many places besides school that are great.
🦕 She’s amazing haha. It hit me!
☕ It did?
🦕 It did!
☕ From the person who’s overcome it! I think you’ll be alright!! Thank you so much!
📳 Thank you~
☕ Please continue enjoying college!
📳 I will! Thank you!
🦕🅹 Thank you~
☕ I’m also the type that takes a while to get out of my funk, so I don’t feel like saying “It will be OK” irresponsibly.. Rely on someone when you feel that way! You’re not alone!
🦕 You’re not alone! Knowing you have friends helps you feel at ease
☕ Rely on someone and do your best everyone!
☕ HANA has just debut
🦕 Yeah~
☕ I’m sure you’re super busy, have you got any announcements for us?
🦕 ROSE came out on April 2nd, please listen to it lots!
🅹 Watch the MV a lot too~
☕ I’d be really happy if you guys can come again
🦕 Eeeehhhhh, I wanna!
☕ I think if the three of us sing something…
🦕 Yaba!
🅹 Wahhh~ I want to do it!
🦕🅹 yariTAII~ eeee~!
☕ If you say it lots it might come true
🅹 Eehhhhh?? Eeyyyy~
🦕 OMG really really? Awesome! Thank you~
☕ Look forward to it!
☕ Tonight’s guests were HANA’s Chika and Jisoo, thanks for listening!
☕🦕🅹 Thank you very much!
☕ says it’s like the RnB he listened to when he was a kid
[I’m Yours, You’re Mine played on-air for the first time]
He really likes this song because RnB is his fave
☕ Maybe? We might? Perform it on the tour, and show you our really mature, sexy side
Next week’s guests will be MAZZEL’s Naoya 🐥 and Hayato 🦄
☕We’re in the same group so it’s going to be a good one! I’m looking forward to it!
Message theme: End of April! Unknown encounters
April is when you meet a lot of people for the first time, so please share some encounters you have had now that we’re two weeks in!
☕ For example the senpai at your baito is like the coolest person you have ever met in your entire life, absolutely your type!
☕ Or the kouhai that’s just joined your club is super talented and might take your spot as a regular player
☕You had cheese for the first time ever and it’s super good?!
Stories and matters big or small are welcome!
☕ I’ve also had my encounter, the HANA members just now, even though we’ve met many times, it was only greetings. Every time we did bump into each other our time was very short, so it was just “ahahhhh gozi masu!” something like that, so today’s the first time I actually talked to them. They’re strong, HANA. I went to see their live, mannnn, I don’t need to say anything, they were great, super good. I’m supporting them as a fan! I thank them both! This has been Kairyu from MAZZEL, thank you so much! Tune in next week!

And Shimofuri Tube (
![[profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
![[profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
🦕 Ah, I don’t know that.
☕️ They do a lot of things at home, invite guests in a tatami room, with a completely shaved head! And Lee-ke Everyday (
![[profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
🦕 On the Saraba Seishun no Hikari YouTube channel (
![[profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
